Round 1 (Regular Season): Team Cabra rally past Crocs

The Regular Season in United Cup just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Dominican Rep. Team Cabra smashed American Crocs at home 107-80. Team Cabra forced 19 Crocs turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Crocs' players. Venezuelan-Dominican Kelvin Pena (193-1980, college: Southeastern) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Carlos Carela (185-2000) chipped in 17 points. Team Cabra's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side point guard DJ Johnson (188, college: Mt.Mercy) responded with 26 points. Crocs will play next round against Austin G. trying to get back on the winning streak. Team Cabra will try to continue on its current victory against CDF at home.

American Greeners recorded a loss in Santiago. Visitors were defeated by Dominican Rep. Immortals86-68. American Paul Harrison (206-1989, college: NGU) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Angel Rivas accounted for 20 points and 6 rebounds. Dominican forward Greg Richardson (201-1986) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for Austin G. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Immortals will play against Padre Gran in the next round. Greeners will play against Crocs to get more than just one victory in their record.

One of the most interesting games of round 1 was a derby match between two teams from Dominican Republic. CDF won against host Padre Gran105-101. Andrew Dikas fired 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Alexander Garcia produced 27 points for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. CDF will meet Team Cabra in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Padre Gran will play against Immortals and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
